The Dark Arts: Poison and Assassination

May 25, 2010

Warfare in Ancient Greece is being taken up a notch as we introduce another deadly threat to the battlefield - Assassination. From 7:00pm through 9:00pm on Fridays, all Level 60 and up players can claim some deadly poisons from the Apothecary and then turn them over to an Assassin or attempt the assassination themselves. The target is the hostile faction's Consul. If you are successful in administering the poison, or if your assassin is successful, the Consul's health will be reduced significantly. Meanwhile, players trying to protect the Consul are tasked with constructing Arrow Tower(s) to defend their Consul, by turning in a certain amount of Crystals to the Apothecary. The event result is determined when the health of one of the Consuls is fully depleted, resulting in his death. The victorious side can expect rich rewards from their own Consul, while the losing faction walks away empty-handed to mourn the death of their commander.

Refer to the following list for the locations of the relevant NPCs.

Apothecary
Athenian Apothecary at Megara (43, 79)
Spartan Apothecary at Argolis (-57, -77)

Consuls
Athenian Consul at Megara (28, -104)
Spartan Consul at Argolis (-17, 105)

Spartan Assassin
Megara (-83, -87)
Megara (152, -92)
Plataea (-139, 60)

Athenian Assassin
Argolis (-168, 134)
Argolis (78, 83)
Derveni (-149, 33)

The Health of both Consuls will be set at 100, 000 to start the event. The losing faction will see a slight increase in the HP of their own Consul during the next Consul Assassination.

Note: Using an Assassin to administer the poison will only bring down the HP by 500, while if it is administered personally, it will reduce it by 1,000.

The required number of Crystals for Tower construction varies at different levels (Levels 80, 100 and 120). It's considered smart to build Towers near the Consul. When a tower receives enough Crystal donations, a tower can be built. Each faction is allowed to have up to 5 Towers at one time.

Prizes:
Each player on the victorious faction can claim a prize, that's set to be the Exp equal to his/her level multiplies 8,000 (Prize=player's Level * 8000), from the Apothecary.
