Gear Up

Right click on the item to equip it. Or drop the highlighted item to the appropriate slot in the inventory window with a left click and drag, the equipment will then be active on your character.

If this is the first time you wear it, a prompt will tell you this item will be untradeable after used. You click Confirm to close the pop-up.
